- Anthony J Nelson Lots of companies solve problems. But not all of them win because moats are hard now. Standing out isn't just about having cool tech. Most anyone can spin up a platform nowadays. I'm at a conference with a unique healthtech company. We're stuck between two others thatdo the same thing and are from the same European country. Btw, a 3rd identical company was a few booths over. How in the world do you stand out? You. Have. To. Deliver. I've seen companies have subpar products and still win because they deliver a great experience. Some, not all, product deficiencies will be overlooked ifyour clients trust you to keep working to serve them. Here's the strategy:☑ Build Deep Relationships:• Engage with clients on a personal level.☑ Closed Loop Systems:• Continuously improve based on feedback.☑ Consistent Communication:• Keep clients informed and involved.☑ Reliable Support:• Be there when they need help.☑ Added Value:• Offer more than just the product. How you stand out?→ Build trust.→ Build loyalty.→ Ensure satisfaction.→ Outshine competitors. The other alternative is build something unique. When you have both .... that's when you own the market. 4

- Eleos Health When we talk about ethical AI use in behavioral health, one theme that comes up over and over again is the ethical * obligation * to embrace these kinds of tools knowing that they can ultimately help providers deliver better care to more people. As Ashley Newton, CEO of Centerstone’s Research Institute, said during a webinar we recently co-hosted with National Council for Mental Wellbeing, the demand for behavioral healthcare is too great — and there are too few providers — for us to ignore technology that can augment the entire profession to help meet that need. But, with great power comes great responsibility — and as Ashley explained, that means it’s on the entire behavioral health community to ensure ethical and responsible AI use through things like policy and governance frameworks.Watch the video clip below to hear more from Ashley on this important topic, and check out the full webinar summary here for more expert insights on responsible AI use in behavioral health. 👉 https://bit.ly/3SkD5k5#HealthcareAI #HealthcareEthics #BehavioralHealth #MoreCareLessOps 38 1 Comment

- Joe Makoid Over the past year - I’ve read (and listened to) several books on different aspects of US Healthcare. Here is a list and some takeaways on each:1. Priced Out - Uwe Reinhardt: A deep dive into why American healthcare costs so much and why so much of the legislation to try to fix it has failed. (It’s the prices) Reinhardt is a highly regarded health economist - worth a read even if you don’t agree with him.2. How to Make a Killing - Tom Mueller: Exposes the dark side of the for-profit dialysis industry. (IMO - it didn’t do a good job exploring the nuances of for-profit vs. not-for-profit)3. The Digital Doctor - Robert Wachter: Highlights the promise and pitfalls of healthcare's digital transformation. Awesome read and I highly recommend for anyone in Health IT.4. Curable - Travis Christofferson: Argues that the healthcare crisis in the U.S. stems from both systemic issues and psychological biases. Talks about a ‘Moneyball’ approach to healthcare. Okayread, but it oversimplified the issues IMO.5. The Price We Pay - Marty Makary: Investigates the hidden costs and inefficiencies in the U.S. healthcare system. Have posted about this one before. One of my favorites - everyone working in healthcare should read.6. Pain Killer - Barry Meier: Chronicles the origins and impact of the opioid crisis. You probably watched the show with Michael Keaton. The book is equally good.7. Complications - Atul Gawande: Offers a surgeon's perspective on the uncertainties and complexities of medical practice. One of the healthcare literature classics. Gawande is a phenomenal writer. This gives a great look at the deeply human nature of practicing medicine.8. The Innovator's Prescription - Clay Christensen: Provides a roadmap for disrupting and innovating in the healthcare industry. This is from 2008 - was fascinating to see how things have barely changed since then. Christensen is famous for writing The Innovator’s Dilemma in the 80’s. In the book he coined the term “disruptive innovation”.What else should be on my list?? 39 10 Comments
- Cura OS Let’s see what Chat GPT has to say. We tend to agree. This is a transformative moment for HCBS providers. One size does not fit all. Homecare is evolving rapidly into well defined segments. HCBS is our segment and nobody does it better. Should providers consider paying more for value add person centered software solutions built for HCBS DSP use over generic home care solutions?Chat GPTYes, providers should consider investing in software solutions specifically designed for Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) that prioritize person-centered care, even if these solutions might cost more than generic home care software. Here’s why:1. **Tailored Functionality**: HCBS-specific software is tailored to the unique needs of community-based settings, which often require more personalized and flexible care models. Generic software might not address specific challenges faced by DSPs, such as coordinating with multiple care providers and managing diverse client needs in community settings.2. **Enhanced Quality of Care**: Person-centered software can improve the quality of care by focusing on the individual needs and preferences of clients. This leads to better client satisfaction, improved health outcomes, and potentially lower healthcare costs in the long run due to more effective management and preventive care.3. **Compliance with Specialized Regulations**: HCBS programs often have specific regulatory requirements that differ from other types of care settings. Software that is specifically designed for HCBS can help ensure compliance with these regulations more effectively than generic solutions, reducing the risk of penalties and helping secure funding.4. **Improved Staff Efficiency and Satisfaction**: Software that is easy to use and specifically designed for the workflow of DSPs can significantly increase efficiency, reducing time spent on administrative tasks and allowing more time for client care. This can also improve job satisfaction and reduce turnover among staff, which is a significant issue in the HCBS field.5. **Data-Driven Decision Making**: Advanced HCBS software can offer better data collection, analysis, and reporting tools tailored to the specifics of community-based services. This data can be crucial for continuous improvement, funding justification, and adapting services to meet the evolving needs of clients.6. **Long-Term Savings**: While the initial cost of specialized software may be higher, the long-term benefits of improved care quality, compliance, efficiency, and staff retention can lead to significant savings. These savings can offset the higher upfront costs.7. **Competitive Advantage**: Offering high-quality, person-centered care can provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Providers that invest in superior HCBS software solutions may attract more clients and funding by demonstrating their commitment to best practices and high standards. 1

- Parrish Chapman The US labor (human capital) issues are not going away anytime soon. Recent data shows that US fertility rates in 2023 have reached their lowest levels since records began. This drop in fertility puts the US even further below replacement levels, which it has generally been below since 1971. Lack of human capital means businesses will need to embrace automation. The GRUBBRR® self-order platform was designed to address the lack of proper human capital and shift POS staff to production areas. #GRUBBRR #kiosk #retail #selfordering #POS #QSR 1

- Rithvik Seela There's one thing that truly differentiates great healthtech companies from the ones who fizzle out.Distribution.There's so much red tape in this industry - if you have incredible distribution, it's so much easier to build and iterate on your product. Working with customers isn't hidden behind a 5-year bureaucratic process anymore.Without great distribution, everything becomes 10x harder and takes 10x longer. 10

- Kunal Sarda I just returned from HomeCare 100- my first home healthcare conference- energized by the many conversations with forward-thinking executives grappling with the use of AI and automation in their business.I am also a data nerd, and so, over the next 7 business days, I'll be sharing my 7 nerdy observations as a relative newcomer to the industry.1-of-7 Observations from Home Care 100: I analyzed the names of all the home healthcare executives and vendors who attended HC100.Percentage of home health executives with non-male names registered for HC100? 53% 🙌 Percent of home health software vendors with non-male names registered for HC100?22% (I think this number was close to 10% based on actual attendance at vendor events). 😨 One of our values at Arya is "Think Like a Customer". And so, I left wondering what it might feel like as a customer leading a space dominated by powerful women, working with partners who don't reflect their own composition.Tech partners serving this space (including Arya) have much to learn from our customers. I'm proud to report that at least 2 of our next 4 teammates at the company will be women.#homecare #homecareagencies #HC100 #homecare100 #homehealth 19 2 Comments
